Universal Fashion

Fashion is a phenomenon of communication, social development, and it is an entire universe concentrated in the diverse appearance of a skirt, shirt, or even a pair of pants. I consider fashion designers to be people with the ability, stamina, and good fortune to establish themselves successfully. It would be impossible to list all of the people who contributed to fashion in the 20^th century, hence the title of my mentor book. It is not only fashion designers and trendy clothing that count as fashion icons.

As surprising as it may seem, in this century, fashion is influenced by things such as; fine art, music, subcultures, youth culture, distant lands, and individuals. The diversity comes from a combination of thousands of designers with brilliant and different ideas. Have you ever stopped to think that fashion may be perhaps going round and round in circles? Take a look at what we wear today, and take some time to go through your parents old albums. As Barbara Vinken has expressed it, “At the end of the twentieth century fashion has become what art wanted to be: the spirit of the age is manifested in it.”
