Muslim Women and Their Fashion

muslim women

For the religious yet stylish young Muslim woman of Turkey, fashion this season is not only black, but stone or soft brown, ankle-length skirt or coat closed to the neck, hat and scarf covering most of their hair, sleeves to the wrist, all in rippling silk, satin or velvet. But with such extreme dressing, the fear of going against what their religion says is always something they must keep in mind. What Women wear is always a strong point in Turkey’s or places with Muslim influences. The conflict over women’s dresses in places with religions such as Islam, takes curious turns.

Recently, there have been other’s to try and protest against this fashion trend, in there own defense. For those of you who do not know, Muslim’s are not allowed to reveal any part of their skin; they are only allowed to show their eyes. At no point am I criticizing their fashion trend, because as everything else is, this is just there own statement. Evidently, with this in mind, fashion does not go as far as it would in places that are not as constricted to what they can wear. But one product that is sold, but rarely manufactured is Islamic swimwear, as the cloth manufacturers are believed to sin if they make it.

Icons of Fashion

Icons of FashionAs a guide to help me enhance my blog, I made a great purchase. I decided to read Icons of Fashion by Gerda Buxbaum. Just by looking at the cover intrigued me. And even better, taking a quick peek through the pages made my decision to buy the book even easier. This book is an invitation to rediscover the history of the 20th century through its fashion.

Icons of Fashion offers an over all look of the development of fashion, beginning with liberation from the corset tops, through pre-war and post-war fashions, and all the way through what we wear today. This book stars advice and information from great names such as Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karan, Miuccia Prada, and many more stylish designers. The most inspiring part about Icons of Fashion is that every single page includes a quote from different designers. I encourage all to read this book to enlighten your fashion sense and most importantly, knowledge!

Then, you are reading the right blog, because I will soon bring you answers to many of your questions.

Fashion is stated to be a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, etc. Yet, with this in mind, several people do not know what it is all about. Fashion equals diversity and every one has a different view of it. If you are ready to take an adventure through the lane of universal fashion trends, stay tuned for a fabulous and joyous ride as I will be as informative as possible. As Coco Chanel said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
